How to Play Sic-Bo

Sic Bo translates to mean “dice pair.” It’s from China and it is an ancient “game of chance” that is played with three dice. The Sic Bo table is ornately lighted and once in a while it can be found in special sections of casinos that are reserved for games from Asia.

Sic Bo is an incredibly simple game. The object of sic bo is to pick either individual or a combination of numbers and then try to get those individual (or that particular combination) to be the result after the dice are rolled. There are a number of possibilities for betting and bet payoffs are shown to players on the layout of the table. The layout shows the different combinations of dice. It shows the single numbers on each die and also the three of a kind, the two of a kind or the combinations of any three or two of the dice.

Betting in Sic Bo

Sic Bo is a game that has seven types of different bets.

Sic bo bets can be made on any of the six faces of the dice, from one through six. If the number upon which the bet is made comes up, the bet is paid to the player at a ratio of one to one. If two dice show the number that has been bet upon, then the bet is paid to the player at two to one. And finally, if all three of the dice turn up at the number that was bet upon, then the bet is paid to the player at a ratio of three to one.

Bets can also be made on any combination of two specific numbers. If the combination of those two numbers is rolled on any two of the three dice then the player’s bet is paid at a ratio of five to one.

Players can also make bets on the sum of the three dice. The player is allowed to place a wager on any sum ranging between four and seventeen. If the sum is rolled (no matter what combination of numbers it takes to get there) the player’s bet is paid at a ratio that varies from six to one to fifty to one. The ratio depends on the bet that was placed.

Sic bo players can also bet “small” or “big.” If the bet is placed on “small”, it will win if the sum of the three dice ends up being from four to ten. If the bet has been placed on “big” will win if the sum of the three dice ends up equaling from eleven to seventeen.

There can also be bets made on whether or not a combination of three specific numbers will be rolled. If that bet wins it is paid off at a ratio of one hundred and fifty to one.

Players can bet on a triplet of any number and if they win it will be paid off at a ratio of twenty four to one.

Bets can also be made on a specific pair of numbers being rolled. If that bet wins, the pay out occurs at a ratio of eight to one. Sic bo starts when the players put their gaming chips on the section of the table that depicts the way they want to bet. The players are responsible for making sure their bets are correctly positioned on the table. It doesn’t matter if they put down the chips themselves or if the dealer does it, the players alone are responsible for making sure that they are placed correctly.
